Providence, RI – Mayor Brett P. Smiley and Colonel Oscar L. Perez, Jr. today announced the graduation of the 72nd Providence Police Department Training Academy, scheduled for tomorrow, September 7, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The ceremony is being held at Bishop McVinney Auditorium, 43 Dave Gavitt Way.
Following an extensive selection process and the completion of 812 hours of training, these 34 new officers will have the honor of taking the oath to become a Providence Police Officer, joining one of the most distinguished law enforcement agencies in the Northeast. This class is a reflection of the vibrant diversity of our city, with individuals from first-generation backgrounds, many representing our Latino, Portuguese and Haitian communities and speaking a range of different languages.
