The Providence Police Department Narcotics Bureau announced the arrest of Jonathan Garcia, 37, following a months-long investigation into illegal narcotics distribution. Based on evidence obtained over the course of the investigation, detectives secured search and seizure warrants for Garcia, his residence on Horace Street, and his vehicle.
On March 19, 2026, members of the Narcotics Bureau executed the search warrants at Garcia’s residence. After knocking and announcing their presence with no response, detectives made entry into the home. Garcia was located in an upstairs bedroom and taken into custody without incident.
“Operations like this are critical to keeping our neighborhoods safe,” said Providence Police Chief Oscar Perez. “By disrupting the distribution of dangerous drugs, we are helping protect families and improve quality of life across Providence.”
During the search, Garcia admitted to the presence of narcotics in his garage and directed officers to their location. Detectives subsequently recovered significant quantities of suspected controlled substances and related paraphernalia from the residence.
Items seized* include:
- Cocaine: approximately 113.72 grams
- Heroin: approximately 138.26 grams
- Fentanyl: approximately 63.97 grams
- Suspected unknown white powder: approximately 191.66 grams (pending analysis)
- Multiple digital scales and packaging materials
In addition to narcotics, detectives seized:
- Approximately $25,015 in U.S. currency from the residence
- Two Rolex watches
- Four vehicles, including a 2024 Vanderhall Carmel three-wheel motorcycle
Further financial investigation resulted in the seizure of additional assets, including bank accounts and cash, totaling approximately $513,766, pending forfeiture.
Garcia has been charged with multiple felony offenses, including possession with intent to deliver cocaine, fentanyl, and heroin, as well as trafficking-related charges under Rhode Island General Laws. He is being held pending arraignment in Sixth District Court.
